• Pismo Beach & Arroyo Grande are part of the area known as the Five Cities. The “Five Cities” area historically is made up of Arroyo Grande, Grover City (now Grover Beach), Halcyon, Fair Oaks and Nipomo. Now most people refer to the Five Cities as Grover Beach, Pismo Beach, Arroyo Grande and Oceano. The estimated population of the five cities is 54,479. The Five Cities area is a popular tourist destination. The area is known for its beautiful beaches and its numerous outdoor activities including, swimming, surfing, hiking, fishing, golfing, and off-roading. Other draws include nearby wineries, seasonal festivals and concerts, and the annual gathering of monarch butterflies in the fall and winter months.
