Location Summary

  • Known today as "The Irish Pub," and originally built around circa 1750 cottage on the Herring River, the building took its distinctive shape when it was refashioned as a shingle-clad summer cottage by Col. Caleb Chase, the prominent merchant who founded the Chase and Sanborn coffee enterprise (the equivalent of Starbucks between 1870 and 1950).
